Puttur: Guest Lecture on New India - Manthan held at St Philomena College

Puttur, 31 Aug 2017: To commemorate 75th anniversary of the Quit India Movement, Students’ Council of St Philomena College, here, organized a guest lecture on ‘New India – Manthan’ at their college auditorium, on August 28.
The former Professor V B Arthikaje of Vivekananda College, here, was the resource person. He recalled how the senior leaders of the freedom movement struggled at the beginning of the Quit India Movement, and said, ‘Quit India Movement was really a landmark movement in our country. On the occasion of its 75th anniversary, we need to dedicate ourselves towards creating a ‘New India’ that would make our freedom fighters proud.’
The Principal Professor Leo Noronha delivered the presidential address. He said, “The present Prime Minister of India is the post Independent product. He intends to make India a safe place for all. In this regard, all our citizens have a duty to make India new, that is, to make India strong.’
The members of Performing Arts Association presented the prayer song. The students’ welfare officer Dr Vijaya Kumar M welcomed the gathering. The secretary of the Students’ council Mahammad Ashiq proposed the vote of thanks. The joint secretary compered the programme. The welfare officer Bharathi S Rai coordinated the programme.
