Udupi: Vishwasadamane reunites destitute woman with family in Bihar

Udupi, 27 Aug 2017: Vishwasadamane rehabilitation centre, Shankerpura, near here, reunited a destitute woman hailing from Bihar with her family on August 24.
A destitute woman was found loitering with a sack and a water bottle near Santekatte auto rickshaw stand, here, on September 5, 2016. Vishwasadamane deputy chairman Xavier Mathew Castelino and their staff picked her and brought to the rehabilitation centre.
Initially, she became frustrated and wanted to go back to her old ways. Meanwhile, the staff bathed her, brushed her unkept hair for many years and dressed her with clean clothes. The doctors at the facility examined her and confirmed she is suffering from mental ailments. The treatment has begun and she slowly returning to her former self. She offered her home address. She was helping at community kitchen, washing clothes, cleaning etc. She was also trained in farming.
When she improved her total wellbeing, she revealed her name as Prabha and gave her native address that seemed incomplete, because the letters that the staff wrote have returned. Meanwhile, the staff contacted the police in Bihar to get the proper address of Prabha. The police identified her family and gave contact number of Vishwasadamane. Her husband Mohan Roy called Vishwasadamane and informed them that he would come to take her back home. Accordingly, Mohan arrived at Vishwasadamane on August 24. He informed that Prabha was his first wife, and they had 3 daughters, 2 are married. Prabha developed mental illness after their youngest daughter died in 2001. She had gone missing 5 years ago and all the efforts to trace her were in vain.
He married Laxmi and they have 2 boys. He got the info about Prabha through Bihar police who asked him to get in touch with Vishwasadamane. Accordingly, he has left with Prabha to their native – Devooriakoti, Muzafarfur, Bihar. He thanked Vishwasadamane for reuniting his long lost wife Prabha.
