Minister U T Khader instructs village accountants to issue income certificates to BPL applicants

Mangaluru, 24 Jun 2017: The state food and civil supplies minister U T Khader instructed the village accountants to issue income certificates for families who have applied for BPL cards.
Addressing the revenue officials meeting held at Deputy Commissioner’s office, here, on Saturday, June 24, minister Khader said, ‘It’s the foremost duty of village accountants to issue caste and income certificates. The applications received by food department to issue BPL cards will be forwarded to Janasnehi Kendras. The village accountants had to verify. The process of issuing BPL cards has been simplified. The income certificate stating annual income below Rs 1.20 lac is the benchmark to issue BPL cards. The beneficiaries had to submit affidavits to fulfill other yardsticks. The state administration expects people should get ration cards swiftly without much difficulty.’
BPL card is essential to avail state benefits including poor to get healthcare services etc, said minister Khader. He urged the village accountants to be diligent in their duties in issuing income certificate for those who apply for BPL cards in making DK a model district in Karnataka.
The state administration has earnestly taken steps to resolve the confusion that dogged issuing BPL cards since many years. The people are also advised to co-operate in this regard, said minister Khader.
DK deputy commissioner Dr Jagadeesh, ADC Kumar, Puttur sub division officer Raghunandanmurti and all Tahsildars of DK were present.
