Beltangady: Over 10,000 people participate in World Yoga Day at Dharmasthala

Beltangady, 22 Jun 2017: Yoga is essential for total wellbeing of an individual. It also enhances good health and life span. The daily yoga has to be done with total dedication, said KPSC chairman T Shyam Bhat.
Shyam was speaking during 3rd World Yoga Day that was organized at Amrutavarshini auditorium, Dharmasthala, here, on Wednesday, June 21.
The modern lifestyle, food habits and work pressure takes the toll on health of people, while daily yoga practice improves professional skills and also promotes good health, said Shyam.
Speaking on the occasion, Canara Bank general manager Ravindra Bhandary said, ‘I am health because I practice yoga daily. It helps me to manage work pressure and promotes positive thinking,’ said Ravindra.
Rajeev Gandhi University of Health Sciences - NSS officer B Vasant Shetty lauded the contributions of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade in promoting health among the masses through naturopathy and yogic science.
NSS regional director Arun Poojary advised the youth who are the future of India to practice yoga that promotes good health, moral and human values.

Yoga is the greatest contribution of India to the world. Lord Shiva is the origin of Yoga, while yoga postures are defined by Patanjali. One needs healthy mind and body to make best use of every single movement of our life. We can buy anything online, while health cannot be bought. The daily yoga practice maintains health of mind and body, to keep the senses in control. One can keep blood pressure complications and diabetes in check, said Veerendra Heggade.
• World Yoga Utsav: Heggade announced that the preparations are underway to organize World Yoga Utsav at Dharmasthala, here, from November 21 to November 24.
• 2,500 yoga instructors were trained through Guru Yoga Sangh.
• India was projected as a poor nation, but it has become wealthy nation now in many respects.
• Over 5,600 students and general public numbering 4,813, totaling 10,445 participated in the Yoga Day celebrations from 78 centers from Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Mysuru, Bagalkote and Davanagere.
Hemavati V Heggade, D Harshendra Kumar, Supriya Harshendra Kumar, Dr B Yashovarma and yoga director Sasikant Jain were present.
SDM Naturopathy and Yogic Science College principal Dr Prashant Shetty welcomed the gathering. B Sitaram Tolpadittaya proposed vote of thanks.
