3 days choral singing workshop at Kalaangann concludes

Mangaluru, 12 Jun 2017: Sumell – Choral Singing Group, in association with Mandd Sobhann, had organised a 3-days’ Residential Choral Singing Workshop, at Kalaangann, on June 9, 10 & 11, 2017.
47 singing enthusiasts from in and around Mangalore and also from Goa had registered in this camp, which was symbolically inaugurated on June 9th by the Chief Trainer, eminent Musicologist/Conductor, Shri Kurian Varkey, Bengaluru, unveiling a gramophone covered by an earthen pot having musical notations on it.
In the 3 days of the workshop, Shri Kurian Varkey gave the participants exhaustive information regarding the History of Music, Singing Techniques, Music Notation, Breathing Exercises, Sound Production, Harmony, Warm-up, Tone, Performance and Range. Each theory session was followed by practical exercises and choral practices. Sangeet Guru Joel Pereira & Anil Patrao assisted Shri Kurian Varkey during the training sessions.
At the Concluding Ceremony held on 11th evening, well-known Music Composer, Singer & Choir Master, Shri Melwyn Peris, distributed certificates to the participants of the workshop. 2 participants – Ms. Rochelle D’Sa & Shri Agnelo Fernandes (Goa) – shared their experiences of the workshop. Shri Kurian Varkey distributed certificates to the participants of the Dance Workshop held on May 26, 27 & 28, 2017.
The participants then presented 3 songs that they learnt during the workshop. Ms. Raina Sequeira proposed the Vote of Thanks and Ms. Irine Rebello, Secretary of Sumell compered the Closing Ceremony. Shri Eric Ozario (Workshop Director), Shri Louis J. Pinto (President, Mandd Sobhann) and Shri Avil D’Cruz (Leader, Nach Sobhann) were present on the occasion.
