Mangaluru, 30 May 2017: The study revealed Mangaluru is the most preferred city to live. As per recent survey, Mangaluru gets first place in India, second place in Asian continent and forty-seventh in the world, said Mangaluru south MLA J R Lobo.

MLA Lobo was speaking during interactive meet with people at Car Street, here, on Monday, May 29. He said, ‘There is scope for tourism development as the city is termed most preferred town in India. Therefore, Mangaluru will emerge major tourist hub in the nearest future, if the investments are made on infrastructural development,’ said MLA Lobo.

The process of designing an alternative road of 6 kilometers along Netravati River is underway. The state administration has sanctioned Rs 10 crores in this regard to prepare project report. The road will be laid along the shores of Netravati River up to Kannur. Once completed, the vehicles bound for Kerala can reach Kannur without coming to town. The land in its adjacent will also get higher price,’ explained MLA Lobo.

The proposed road linking NMPT, Tannirbavi, Bengre and Old Port along Netravati River under Sagaramala project will further link NMPT with NMPT and old port, said MLA Lobo. The proposed hanging bridge linking Boloor to Bengre will be dropped and replaced with a new road. It would be a boon to tourism, said MLA Lobo.

The underground laying of electricity cables are underway on experimental basis from Kankanady to A B Shetty Circle, if that becomes successful, the city will no more have cables hanging in electric poles, added MLA Lobo.
