Mangaluru: Derik’s Chess School prodigy Shriyana Mallya wins bronze in Romania

Mangaluru, 01 May 2017: Derik’s Chess School prodigy Shriyana Mallya won the bronze medal in the under 7 girls’ category in the World School Chess Championship held at Iasi, Romania from April 23 to April 30.
Shriyana had scored 6.5 points in 9 rounds Swiss league with 6 wins, one draw and two losses.
Along with the medal, she was also awarded Woman Candidate Master (WCM) title at prize distribution ceremony held on April 30 evening.
After winning state and National School championships in row, again excelling at international, Shriyana has displayed tremendous skills, talent and hard work at such young age. She was accompanied by her father to the world championship.
She is studying in Class II at Lourdes Central School, here. She is daughter of Sandeep and Nandini S Mallya.
