Mangaluru: Ramakrishna Mission carries out 23rd week of cleanliness drive in city

Mangaluru, 01 Apr 2017: Ramakrishna Mission carried out 23rd week of cleanliness drive in 11 different localities across city on Sunday, April 30.

 

Rao & Rao circle – Cleanliness drive was organized in association with CAMPCO limited from Rao & Rao Circle to Bunder Main road. The drive was jointly flagged off by Satishchandra, president, CAMPCO and Suresh Bhandary. More than 100 employees and staff of CAMPCO and senior volunteers of Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan participated in the drive for nearly 2 and 1/2 hours. Umanath Kotekar, coordinator of Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan guided the volunteers and T S Bhat coordinated the team of volunteers.

Karangalpady – The members Sri Subramanya Sabha and local residents of Karangalpady carried out the cleanliness drive. Sridhar Shastry and Prabhakar Rao flagged off the drive. Srikanth Rao guided the team of volunteers in cleaning Karangalpady Road and Bejai Church Road. Weeds and tall grass were removed. Manish Rao, Karun Belle, Pradeep Rao and nearly 50 people actively participated in the drive.  

 

Bhavanthi Street  The members of Team Inspiration under the leadership of sub-inspector Madan carried out the drive from Bhavanthi Street to Car Street. Prasanna Kumar and Naveen Kudupu flagged off the drive. Along with cleaning the road, they cleared the adjoining drains off the garbage and construction debris etc. They also removed the posters stuck on the walls of the buildings on the road.     

 

Bolar  The members of Nivedita Balaga carried out the drive in Bolara Main Road. Raghuram Upadhya and Lalitha Upadhyaya flagged off the drive. Main road and the adjoining drains were cleaned. The volunteers also removed the posters and illegal banners put up on various locations on the road.  

 

A B Shetty Circle – The members of Hindu Warriors team carried out the drive from A B Shetty Circle to Pandeshwar. Harish Achar, member of Mangalore University Syndicate and Dilraj Alva flagged off the drive. The road opposite Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and road dividers were thoroughly cleaned. Debris of construction materials lying on the road and footpaths were removed. Shivu Puttur, Yogish Kayarthadka and several others actively participated in the drive.    

 

V T Road – The devotees of Gokarna Mutt and locals carried out the drive in the surroundings of Vitoba Temple. Damodar Bhat and Jagadish Shenoy flagged off the drive. Kamalaksha Pai led the team of volunteers in cleanliness drive.  

 

Jeppu – The members of Amba Maheshwari Bhajana Mandir took up the drive near Jeppu Market. They colored and painted the walls, which were cleaned last week by removing posters etc. They also maintained the garden created on the dumping place in Mulihithlu area. Punith and Roopesh coordinated the drive.

 

Padil – The members of Youth centre carried out the drive in Padil area. Raghuveer Gatty and Mohan Padil flagged off the drive. The team of volunteers under Uday K P cleaned the area from Padil Junction to Batlagudde Shanthi Nagar. Local residents too participated in the drive.

 

Shivabagh – The members of Swacch Shivabagh team carried out the drive in Shivabagh III Cross. Mohan Mendon and Ravindra Shetty flagged off the drive. Sheela Jayaprakash and Chandrakala Deepak led the volunteers in cleaning III Cross and IV Cross. Many shop keepers too participated in the drive.   

 

Attavar – The members of Patanjali Yoga Shikshana Samiti joined the drive that was held from Attavar Rotary Club to Uma Maheshwari Temple. Balakrishna Shetty and Rajesh Attavara flagged off the drive. Akshith Attavara coordinated the team.

 

Yemmekere – The members of Sharada Mahila Vrinda carried out the drive in Yemmekere area. Retired principal of Canara College, Satish Bhat flagged off the drive. The volunteers carried out the cleanliness from Yemmekere Main Road until Srinivas College. They cleaned the road and both sides of the roads and adjoining drains. Chitra Prabhu coordinated the team which comprised of several elder women.

 

Earth to Earth – Awareness Programme: There was a special awareness programme about solid waste management and garbage segregation at Amba Maheshwari Bhajan Mandir. Nandini, resource person, explained the method of garbage segregation at home, and how to make manure and compost through demonstration and charts. Umanath Kotekar welcomed.  

 

MRPL and Nitte are patronizing this 3rd phase of Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan.
