New Delhi: St Columbus Platinum Jubilee Celebration concludes with cultural shows

New Delhi, 29 Apr 2017: It was a memorable occasion for the students and staff of St Columba’s to be a part of the Platinum Jubilee Closing Ceremony on Friday, April 28. The celebration commenced with a Mass held in the Middle School Auditorium followed by a dazzling cultural fiesta in the Edmund Rice Hall.
Archbishop of Delhi Anil J T Couto blessed the ceremony. This was followed by a symphony orchestrated by Macdonald and his band of 34 boys.
Najeeb Jung who has served as the 20th Lt General of Delhi and most importantly an former Columban, was the chief guest for the Closing Ceremony. He released the brochure titled The Columban calling which is a concerted effort by the students and OC A members. Other invitees of the day were Fr Theodore Mascarenhas, Wayne Tinsey, Dr Guleria and principals of various prestigious schools of Delhi.
Dr Wayne, the key note speaker offered his sincere congratulations and expressed his gratitude to the Christian Brothers who helped in the formation of generations of young men.
The other highlights of the ceremony were Vande Matram, Presentation of mementoes to staff, Medley of songs, Bequest, Sufi fusion dance.
Through a video message titled Guiding Hands, an attempt was made to capture some moments with the Christian Brothers, who have left behind their imprints through the illustrious years they had spent in the school.
This was followed by principal Bro Miranda’s speech where he emphasized on holistic education and the values of Blessed Edmund Rice that students gain from St Columba’s. The ceremony concluded with Sheel, the head teacher of Middle School giving the vote of thanks. The event was brought to a close with a prayer by Fr Theodore Mascarenhas.
