Bantwal: Tulu historian Prof Tukaram sets up Tulu Museum at his extended home

The residence of Professor Tukaram Poojary of SVS College, here converted into Tulu museum to educate the people on contemporary living in Tulunadu. Professor Tukaram Poojary and Dr Ashalata S Suvarna couple indeed have created a magnificence Tulu museum.
History is not about the conquest of emperors and kings. Professor Thukaram and Asha couple opened Tulu museum and Rani Abbakka Study Centre, here, firmly believing the common folks lived in bygone era in Tulunadu has splendour of culture and folklore. Professor Tukaram toured lengths and breadths of undivided Dakshina Kannada district in collecting the items that may look very ordinary but has cultural significance and stocked at home, when there was no more space at home, he had stored in his college. He made up his mind to extend his house to put up a museum for displaying all such artefacts. He bought a plot besides his house and also built a gallery.
There are several items that are daily used by the ancestors of bygone era, but the new generation is not aware of. It gives clear picture to the students, researchers and general public. It took many years of hard work for Professor Poojary to gather such items that are now displayed at the museum.
The entire facility will be inaugurated during programmes that are scheduled from April 1 to April 4.
