Mangaluru: Oscar Fernandes exhorts Catholic Sabha to be torchbearers of change

Mangaluru, 27 Mar 2017: Oscar Fernandes, Rajya Sabha member and founder president of Catholic Sabha Mangaluru Pradesh® inaugurated the convention of new office bearers’ convention of Catholic Sabha Mangaluru Pradesh at Shanti Kiran auditorium, Bajjody, here on Saturday, March 25, at 5.00pm.
Catholic Sabha Mangaluru Pradesh was founded in 1980, in order to wage united struggle against the communal forces and to uplift the community brethrens who are in dire need.
Speaking on the occasion, Oscar quoted the Bible verse, ‘Whatever you do unto least of my brother that is done to me,’ he appealed to the new office bearers to do the noble deed of helping the poor and downtrodden in the community, develop leadership qualities to safeguard the rights bestowed under the constitution and promote communal harmony.
Catholic Sabha Mangaluru Pradesh® former spiritual director Fr Vincent Monteiro was the chief guest stressed on the need for the community youth to take leadership in resolving burning issues faced by the community.
Catholic Sabha Mangaluru Pradesh® president Anil Lobo, Blossom Fernandes, general secretary Walter Monis, convener Gerald D’Costa, co-convener Godwin Pinto Bejai, designated president Melvyn D’Costa, vice president David D’Souza were present on the dais.
Gerald D’Costa welcomed the gathering. Walter Monis proposed vote of thanks. Anil Patrao compered the programme.
