Catechism Day observed in St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle

Udupi, 16 Mar 2017: Catechism Day was observed in St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle on Sunday, 12 March 2017 with Holy Mass in the church and stage programme in St. Lawrence PU College Hall soon after the holy mass.
The Holy Mass was concelebrated by Fr. Lawrence D’Souza-Secretary of CESU along with Fr. Clement Mascarenhas-Parish Priest, Fr. Lawrence Cutinha-Assistant Parish Priest and Fr. Alphonse D’Lima-Rector of Diocesan Minor Seminary.
In his homily, Fr. Lawrence D’Souza highlighted the importance of Catechism in building up a strong Christian community.
The Holy Mass was animated by the students of various catechism classes. They also formed the choir for the Holy Mass.
Soon after the Holy Mass, catechism studnets, their parents and teachers assembled in St. Lawrence PU College Hall for the stage programme. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas presided over the programme. Fr. Lawrence D’Souza was the cheif guest. Other dignitaries on the dais included Fr. Lawrence Cutinha, Fr. Alphonse D’Lima, Vincent Fernandes-Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council, Mrs. Latha D’Mello-Secretary and Mrs. Shanti Alva-Convner of the Catechism Teachers.
The programme began with the prayer hymn sung by the Catechism students.
Mrs. Babitha Noronha welcomed the guests and the gathering.
Mrs. Shanti Alva presented the report of various activities conducted by Catechism teachers and students during the last year.
Lloyd Pinto shared his experience as Catechism student where as Mrs. Brenda Noronha shared her experience on behalf of the parents.
The chief guest, Fr. Lawrence D’Souza and Fr. Clement Mascarenhas in their messages appreciated the students, teachers and parents for their contribution in promoting Catechism classes.
Those students who had secured first, second and third ranks in the Diocesan level Catechism Examinations in their respective classes as well as those students who had full attendance in the Catechism classes were honoured by Fr. Lawrence D’Souza, Fr. Lawrence Cutinha and Vincent Fernandes. The names of the students were read by Sr. Lydia, Mrs. Mable Saldanha and Mrs. Cony D’Souza.
Fr. Clement Mascarenhas distributed mementos to all the Catechism teachers for their dedicated service in teaching the Catechism classes.
Sr. Irene Veigas proposed the vote of thanks. The stage programme was compeered by Mrs. Reshma D’Souza.
Various cultural programmes including dances and skits based on Biblical themes were presented by students right from first to tenth standards. Rovil Noronha compeered the cultural programme.
Ice cream was distributed to all after the programme.
