Speaking of Kannada Film Industry, the renowned actor stressed on how making parallel cinemas are a necessity to break the monotony of catering to a single audience.

‘Sandalwood has been catering to a single crowd for a long time. Now it’s high time for the parallel cinema to step in and make a difference,’ he opined.

Several questions were shot at the actor, when the discussion opened to the public, media and students.

When asked about his role model, Rakshit openly admitted how inspired he was with work of Late Shankar Nag, well known as actor, producer and director of various Kannada Films.

‘I am very much inspired by Shankar Nag sir. He is a star we lost very early but his achievements still don’t fail to mesmerize us. I want to accomplish at least half of what he has done,’ he confessed.

Answering to the questions about distribution of his recent flick, Kirik Party, Rakshit Shetty said that the people should come out from the traditional way of viewing films and accept the modern screening of movies.

‘We are in a need for lot of multiplexes. It is very difficult for families to watch movies in theatres with hard seats and fans hung feet high over their head. It is very necessary to bring up middle class multiplexes in various part of the state,’ he suggested.

Addressing the similar issue, the actor announced that his renowned production house- Paramvah are making an effort to bring up new middle class theatres.

Amid the query session, he directed students to watch a lot of movies by great directors.

‘Never get influenced by someone. I watched a lot of movies over and over again to correct and understand the flaws. Because at the end of the day, only my original work makes me stand out in the crowd,’ said the actor with reference to ’Craft of Film Making’.

He advised the students to start making lot of short films, as that is the place where you get to know your flaws and improve to make better films.

‘I am a director who wants to be a good actor and play different characters.  There should always be a purpose that will inspire you to move ahead in this field. Direction helps me to be a better actor,’ he concluded.

On the occasion, NICO students presented a special video made exclusively for the star. The fans from across the city also grabbed the opportunity to click ‘selfie’ and offer special portrait made for the actor.

The head of the department Professor Raviraj Kini and other faculty members were present on the occasion.
