Bantwal: Cashew plantation gutted in fire caused by electrical short-circuit at Kasaba

Bantwal, 14 Feb 2017: A cashew plantation of a progressive farmer was gutted in a fire caused by electrical short circuit at Anilakatte, at the limits of Kasaba gram panchayat, Vittal, near here on Monday, February 13.
The plantation owned by Dr Suresh Kudoor was gutted in electrical short circuit at his cashew plantation in Kasaba, near Vittal, here.
The locals rushed to extinguish the fire soon after they spotted the fire. Meanwhile, the fire brigade from Bantwal arrived at the spot and managed to contain the fire, by then nearly half of plantation was perished.
Dr Suresh had grown 250 different varieties of cashew plants at his 3-and-a-half-acre plot, while many trees have begun to yield. About 150 cashew trees with crop of 15-year-old and other valuable trees are gutted in fire.
