Bantwal: Congress-backed candidates win majority in taluk APMC elections

Bantwal, 15 Jan 2017: Seven BJP-backed candidates and 6 Congress-backed candidates have won in the elections of Bantwal taluk Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) held here on Thursday, January 12. The results were announced on Saturday, January 14 afternoon.
The elections were held for a total of 12 posts including merchants sphere, while ZP member Ravindra Kambali was unanimously elected for co-operative sphere. Besides, Alike Geeta Shetty, Kedila Jagdish, Thumbay Vittal Salian, Sarapady Harischandra Poojary, Mani Nemiraj Rai, Balakrishna Alva from merchants sphere (all BJP-backed candidates) have won.

Sangabettu Padmaraj Ballal, Chennaittody Bharati S Rai, Amtady Divakar Pambadabettu, Kolnad Chandrashekar Rai, Kadeshwalya Chandrashekar Poojary and Panemangaluru Padmanabha Rai K (all Congress-backed candidates) have won.
The vote counting was held at Infant Jesus High School, Modankap, near B C Road on Saturday. The counting staff led by deputy Tahsildar Parameshwar Naik completed the counting monitored by Tahsildar Purandar Hegde.
