Udupi, 16 Jan 2017: Twenty delegates from Delhi and Kolkata who had arrived at Moodubelle for the ‘Days in Diocese’ (DID)experience and staying with seven families had a glimpse of the village as well as Konkani culture on Sunday, 15 January 2017.

 

All the delegates participated in the 7.30 am mass. They entered the church in procession along with the liturgy readers and priests.

 

 At the outset, Fr. Clement Mascarenhas welcomed the delegates and wished a pleasant stay at Moodubelle.

 

The mass was concelebrated by Fr. Alphonse D’Lima-Rector of Diocesan Minor Seminary along with Fr. Clement Mascarenhas and Fr. Lawrence Cutinha.

 

In his homily, Fr. D’Lima stressed upon the importance of the Holy Bible and explained the meaning of ‘Lectio Divina’. He advised the people to read the Bible regularly and said that we must try to understand and apply the teachings of the Bible in our daily lives rather than just reading it.

 

Two of the delegates read the prayers of the faithful in Bengali and Hindi. The delegates from Kolkata sang the thanksgiving hymn in Hindi.

 

 

Following  the mass, the DID delegates participated in the ICYM meeting of the Moodubelle Unit during which the formal introduction of each and every member was made.

 

After the breakfast, the delegates were taken around the church as well as educational complexes.

 

At 12.30 pm the delegates and ICYM members along with animators had lunch in the St. Lawrence PU College hall.

 

At 2pm, Lloyd Rebello conducted few spot games.

 

The delegates were given a glimpse of historical and cultural aspects of Moodubelle through presentation and short videos.

 

Stage programme was conducted at 2.45 pm. Vincent Fernandes, Joseph Martis and Mrs. Rovita Fernandes were given a warm farewell on completion of their term as Animators. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas honoured them with shawls, flower bouquets and mementos.

 

Fr. Clement Mascarenhas welcomed and complimented Mrs. Anita Alva on being appointed as the new Animator of the ICYM Moodudbelle Unit.

 

Variety of cultural programme by the ICYM members of Moodueblle and the delegates from Delhi and Kolkata was presented that depicted  culture and tradition.

 

The choir group sang folk songs (mando), Stree Sanghattan members  and Sarah D’Souza and Steffi Fernandes presented dances.

 

 

The chief attraction of the  day was the ‘Roce Tableau’ presented by ICYM members followed by marriage and the traditions associated with the entire process.

 

The Delegates from Delhi and Kolkata performed action songs and dances.

 

Giving the feedback, Renita from Kolkata and Saheel from Delhi appreciated the hospitality provided to them by the families of Moodubelle with whom they stayed and also liked the presentation of cultural glimpses.
