Bantwal: Crescent Young men’s Association, Thumbay embarks on anti-drugs campaign

Bantwal, 01 Jan 2017: The friends who share narcotic substance in their childhood likely to be addicted by their teenage and involve in anti-social activities. It’s alarming that such evil is growing in huge proportion, said Gangadhar Alva, principal of Thumbay PU College, here.
Alva was speaking after inaugurating sensitization campaign on narcotics addiction that was organized by Crescent Young men’s Association, Thumbay, here themed, Drug addiction tragic, from December 31 to January 8.
The people of all ages are addicted to narcotics. Vested interests are behind this social evil, while if one does not voice concerns against the social evil; someday it would strike our own family. If we try to stem the social evil by the mouth; we could create better condition for future generation, said Alva.
The students can carve out better future for themselves by shunning all forms of social evils. It’s tragic that the students are increasingly becoming victims of drug abuse. The need of the hour is to sensitize families by keeping tab on their whereabouts, urged Alva.
Earlier, a walkathon was held by the students of Thumbay PU College and Government School, villagers from Kunil Ilm School, Thumbay to Thumbay junction, here.

Bantwal rural police sub-inspector A K Rakshit Gowda signed the special logo of anti-drug campaign and conveyed best wishes.
The campaign convener Mohammed Irfan T presided the programme.
Khatib Abdul Latif Faizi of Muhiuddin Juma masjid, Thumbay administered the oath to the participants.
Mangaluru-based K S Hegde Medical College senior physciatrist Dr Arun Bhat P was the resource person educated the gathering.
