Mumbai: Karatedo Gojukai National Training Camp & Championship concludes

Mumbai, 31 Dec 2016: The Karatedo Gojukai National Training Camp and Championship 2016 concluded at Virar, here, on Thursday, December 29. It was attended by senior instructors and some of the championship students of the Gojuryu style of Karate, from across India. Attendees came from West Bengal, Kerala, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
The camp was conducted by the technical director of the Karatedo GojuKai India, Sensei Kaivan Fatakia. Attending the event was Hanshi Peter Brandon, the vice president of International Karatedo Gujukai Association (IKGA) who stressed on the importance of the camp as a transition point for the Indian contingent. The children attending the camp, Hanshi Brandon remarked, were strong enough to do well on a world platform and with the new structure of the KGI, they would have a good chance to represent India and the popular Japanese sport.
Throughout the Camp and Championship, Hanshi Brandon guided and taught the young aspiring Indian children.
Also attending the camp was Shihan Hamidreza Nimehvari, the internationally-acclaimed Kumite (fight) coach of Iran (Iran is a heavy player on the world Karate stage) Shihan Nimehvari coached the children and even took special classes for coaching of Referees for International tournaments.
Speaking about the Camp and Championship of 2016, Sensei Kaivan Fatakia, the technical director of KGI said that the event was a great success and a milestone in the life of KGI India. The organization has been restructured and plans to train children and adults in the art of karate, pan India.
The Camp and Championship was held at the picturesque and peaceful Rustomjee Cambridge International School and Junior College. The attendees’ leant technique gave their belt exams and even took part in Kata (form) and Kumite (fight) competitions.
The Karatedo Gojukai India Camp takes place once a year in Mumbai and also has events across the country. Attendees get a chance to excel in the sport and even represent the country time and again on International platforms.
