Church Aided Higher Primary School:
Moodubelle, 24 Dec 2016: Christmas celebrations was held in St. Lawrence Educational Institutions to spread the message of Peace, Love and Harmony. In the Church Aided Higher Primary School, Christmas celebration was held on Friday, 23 December at 2.30 pm. Fr. Lawrence Cuthinha, Assistant Parish Priest of St. Lawrence Church and Elias D’Souza, Editor-in-chief Bellevision.com and proprietor of Civitech were the chief guests.
A group of students under the guidance of Sr. Irene Viegas, Headmistress of the school conducted the prayer service.
Elias D’Souza in his Christmas message explained the meaning of Christmas to the students and outlined the chief characteristics of the feast.
Fr. Lawrence Cutinha, narrating the story of the pigeon family shifting its residence from temple to mosque and later to the church while the respective places of worship were painted gave the message of harmony and peace.
One of the students who acted as Santa Claus entertained the students by distributing sweets.
The students had put up a beautiful crib depicting the birth of Jesus.
Following the end of the programme, cake slices sponsored by Loy Fernandes, one of the old students of the school were distributed to all the students.
St. Lawrence Composite PU College:
Christmas celebration was observed in St. Lawrence Composite PU College on Saturday, 24 December 2016. Dr. Eugene D’Souza, Media Coordinator of Bellevision.com was the guest of honour. Principal Naveen Correa, Senior Teacher Mrs. Leena D’Silva and Edmund and Wilson, students from PU who acted as Santa Claus were on the dais.
Following the introductory remarks by Joseph D’Souza and prayer song by the students, Principal Naveen Correa welcomed the guests.
In his Christmas message, Dr. Eugene DSouza said that the message of Christmas is included in three simple words-Peace, love and harmony. However, in modern times it is very difficult to put into practice these three words. During his entire life, Jesus Christ not only preached these three words but also gave example through his teachings and miracles. Dr. Eugene DSouza compared the celebration of Christmas with the celebration of Deepavali and also pointed out the difference between the celebration of Christmas in olden days and in modern time. He conveyed the greetings of Christmas and New year 2017 to all students. He also conveyed birthday greetings to Mrs. Jacintha Lobo, Senior Commerce lecturer whose birthday is on 24 December.
Dr. Eugene DSouza handed over shields and certificates to two NSS students-Navya Acharya and Sowmya Patkar of Second Year PUC Arts who had participated in the NSS State Level Special Girls Camp held at Government PU College, Pandavapura, Mandya from 15 to 21 December 2016.
Mrs. Jacintha Lobo who celebrated her birthday was felicitated by Dr. Eugene DSouza by offering her a bouquet of flowers as the students sang “happy birthday” song. The cake that was distributed to the students at the end of the programme was sponsored by Mrs. Jacinta Lobo.
PUC students, Edna Menezes, Sherline D’Almedia, Jasmitha Mendonca and Rosly Quadros sang Christmas Carol in Kannada.
Students of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School presented a dance with Christmas message.
The Crib prepared by the students and the Santa Claus character enacted by Edmund and Wilson were the special attractions of the Christmas celebration.
Mrs. Leena D’Silva, Senior Teacher of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School proposed the vote of thanks.
