Karkala: Christmas Godali, free shopping for chosen poor families worth Rs 2,000

Karkala, 23 Dec 2016: The real Meaning of Christmas is peace, love, forgiveness and helping each other. But in the modern days, the rich have forgotten what Christmas is and one focuses just on celebration and partying.

 

In Christian Community there are many different denominations. So we thought to get them all together on one platform to celebrate Christmas in a proper way. So we produced one Video on that topic called ‘Christ and Christmas.’

The Impact or the outcome of this video is Christmas Godali concept.

 

Christmas Godali concept is organized by musician Roshan Belman and DJ Mervin, both parishioners of Belman.

 

 

About Christmas Godali

Both Roshan and DJ Mervin, their close friends and family members decided to help 50 families with the capital amount of Rs 1 lac. It was an offer of free shopping for the needy people worth Rs 2,000 per family.

 

With the help of Sr Usha Stella, superior of Don Bosio Convent, Belman and some generous donors in the society and through their own effort, they have identified the most needy people.

 

They rented a super market for 4 days (December 21 to December 24) where all the needy people can go and shop whatever they need in these 4 days. But, now this project has risen up to Rs 3 lac with the help of kind-hearted sponsors and they hope 150 needy families will get the benefit of this project by December 24.

 

 

The Christmas Godali Supermarket was inaugurated by John Cardoza, attender at St Joseph High School, Belman from the past 30 years. Because of his sincerity and dedication in his work from the past 30 years, they decided to give him an honor and he is the first beneficiary of this Christmas Godali project. He purchased Rs 2,000 worth household items for his family.

 

There were no any political leaders or any VIP’s during the inauguration on December 21 at 8.30am.

 

The Christmas Godali Super Market is located, opposite of Government Hospital, Belman.

 

It’s not organized by any clubs or social organization. It’s the project conceived and executed by musician Roshan and DJ Mervin, both parishioners of Belman.

 

Their motto:

• To give the real meaning of Christmas to the society.

• We publicized this project through Social Media to inspire the people, epecially the youths.
