Udupi: Bishop Dr Gerald Lobo’s Christmas Message
- Media Release
Udupi, 21 Dec 2016: Christmas is the celebration of birth of Jesus Christ, son of Almighty God. Three wise men from distant lands embarked on a journey to have glimpse of Jesus, who was born in a manger and offer gifts and frankincense. Christmas is the occasion to offer gifts, nevertheless not only to receive but to give. In this Earth that is created by God, none should be hungry, thirsty, orphaned without clothes. Those who have bountiful are expected to share among the have-nots by gifting them.
Although there is diversity in Christmas celebrations across the world, it has the same message to mankind.
Jesus Christ was born into this earth to save the mankind by love, peace and harmony. Meanwhile, it’s meaningful to celebrate Christmas with loving and sharing with fellowmen, at the troubled times of oppression, fear, violence, inequalities, terrorism and uncertainty that the world undergoes.
Jesus was born to bring mankind that is plagued with selfishness, greed and carefree living, in order to closer to Almighty. It was His plan to save mankind when humanity was at crossroads by sending Jesus to be born into this earth. Christmas celebrations should be meaningful by reminding the mankind how much God loved them for love, peace and brotherhood to reign in this world.
Every Christmas celebrations bring hope to mankind. Christmas message of peace and love can solve the issues of families, society and nations. Christ is called Immanuel who will be with us forever. Let peace and happiness reign during this Christmas.
Let us adapt humility of 3 wise men who followed the path of guiding star to reach the manger and were blessed to see Jesus Christ, born poor and Mother Mary who was the handmaid of the God in bringing salvation to mankind. Merry Christmas to All..!
