Bantwal: Govt School at Keddalige grows vegetables/fruits in backyard for mid-day meals

Bantwal, 23 Dec 2016: ‘Come, look at the backyard…look the handiworks of teachers…’ said visionary social reformer Shishunala Sharif, which has been proved at state-run School, Keddalike, near here.
The backyard garden, vegetable crop, plantation of fruits, plantains, palm and areca within the School premises would be treat for the eyes of visitors. The state-run School at Kedalike, near here that comes at the jurisdiction of Kavalapadoor gram panchayat is well known for innovations that changed the landscape around the school. The locals and teachers indeed care for the school more than their households. The backyard garden lush with greenery with the caring of headmaster, teachers, locals and of course students beckons philanthropists in their midst.
It’s significant that half-acre plot out of total of one-and-a-half-acre of School has been reserved to grow vegetable crop and fruits. The varieties of vegetables that are grown at the backyard are sufficient for serving mid-day hot meals to the students for all 6-days a week.
The plants of varieties of fruits were named after every student in order to motivate them towards gardening. The plants are grown to yield fruits now with the nursing of each student and their parents.
The School headmaster Ramesh Nayak Rayee-led teachers, staff, students and governing council have painstakingly put in efforts in growing the vegetable crop and the plantation. ZP member B Padmashekar Jain, school governing council president Dinesh Shetty former president Divakardas and others support the school in its endeavor to grow plants of exotic fruits.
