Udupi: Misuse of Indian Constitution poses threat to national interest - Prof Bhat

Udupi, 28 Nov 2016: The need of the hour is to sensitize the people on misusing the national constitution that maintains the welfare of all citizens of our country, said Professor Padmanabha Bhat, head of department of politics, St Mary’s College, Shirva.
Professor Bhat was speaking after inaugurating Constitution Day celebration that was organized jointly by Vidyavardhaka Central School and Hindu PU College, Shirva, near here on Saturday, November 26.
Indian Constitution was incorporated after understanding the sensitivities and complexities of people. The reigning government ought to be alert in adhering to framework of constitution, added Professor Bhat.
Pooja Nitesh Shetty, political lecturer of MSRS College, Shirva, near here was the resource person, said that Indian Constitution bestowed several rights on citizens, while the compulsory education is most effective in educating the masses, said Pooja. She urged the gathering to discharge their duties in maintaining constitutional rights.
Vidyavardhaka education institutions administrator Professor Bhaskar Shetty in his presidential address said, ‘We disregard our duties that are specified in the constitutions and lay emphasis on our rights. The Constitution Day celebrations should not be observed for namesake, instead the aspirations of constitution should be convinced to new generation of youth,’ said Professor Bhaskar.
Vidyavardhaka Central School principal Prashant Kumar Nambiar delivered the preliminary address.
Hindu High School headmaster Gopalakrishna Rao and teachers were present.
The teacher Anita Upadhyaya compered the programme. Hindu PU College principal Sundar Mera proposed vote of thanks.
