Lions Club, Moodubelle along with other organizations adopt Cleanliness Drive

Udupi, 06 Nov 2016: As a part of the ‘Swach Bharat’ programme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Cleanliness Drive was organized in Moodubelle under the leadership of the Lions Club of Moodubelle along with other organizations on Sunday, 6 November 2016 from 9.30am to 12 noon. Besides the Lions Club of Moodubelle other organizations that participated in the Cleanliness Drive included Belle Grama Panchayat, Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Village Development Programme-Moodubelle-Kattingeri, Nisarga Yuvaka Mandala-Edmeru, ICYM Moodubelle and Environmental Association and NSS of St. Lawrence Composite PU College.

 

The Cleanliness Drive was inaugurated in a brief function that was held in the parish hall. Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas-Parish priest of St. Lawrence Church, Ln. Elias D’Souza-President of Lions Club-Moodubelle, Ln. Siddaraju-Swach Bharat Coordinator of Lions District 317C, Ln. N.M. Hegde-PRO of Lions District 317C, Mrs. Ranjani Hegde-President of Belle Grama Panchayat, Harish Shetty-Vice President of Belle Grama Panchayat, Alphonse Alva-Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council, Ln. Gerald Fernandes-Vice President of Lions Club, Moodubelle and Coordinator of the Cleanliness Drive, Maxim D’Sa-President of Old Students Association of St. Lawrence PU College, Ganesh Kulal and Navin Shetty-Presidents of Kattingeri and Belle  Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Village Development Programme, Belle Grama Panchayat members and volunteers from various organizations participating in the Cleanliness Drive were present for the inaugural function.

 

 

Mrs. Ranjani Hegde, Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas and Ln. Siddaraju in their respective messages stressed on the importance of the ‘Swach Bharat’ Cleanliness Programme and urged the members of various organizations to continue the drive in order to keep their homes, neighbourhood as well as village clean and be an example to others.

 

On this occasion Vendor Umbrellas issued by Lions Club International to commemorate the centenary year of the foundation of the Lions Club International Movement were distributed to Belle Grama Panchayat as well as to the four institutions under St. Lawrence Educational Institutions.

 

Ln. Elias D’Souza-President of Lions Club, Moodubelle welcomed the gathering and Ln. Devdas Hebbar-Secretary compered the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.

 

T Shirts and caps, sponsored by Ln. Vinod Castelino were distributed to the guests and the volunteers.

 

For the Cleanliness Drive, the volunteers were divided into two groups. One group cleaned the roadside leading to the Syndicate Bank and proceeded to the main road and the market place (Sante-katte). The second group cleaned the road side from the main entrance of the church down to the Sante-katte.
