Udupi: First death anniversary of freedom fighter Laxminarayan Sharma observed

Udupi, 23 Oct 2016: It’s a matter of pride to know that the cultures of acknowledging the veterans of their good deeds are still prevalent in the society. At the prevailing times of disregarding those values, it’s our duty to recall the lives of people who laid down their lives for the nation. Living for the sake of others is worthy indeed, said Karnataka legislative council chief whip Captain Ganesh Karnic.
Captain Karnic was speaking after inaugurating the first death anniversary of progress farmer and freedom fighter K Laxminarayan Sharma held at Hindu Higher Primary School auditorium, Shirva, near here on Friday, October 21.
He further said, Laxminarayan lived his life for the country, while the new generation takes freedom for granted. He urged the people to follow at least one quality of Laxminarayan.
Laxminarayan’s long associate B Pundalika lauded the patriotism of Laxminarayan who was a Ghandhian till his last breath.
The veteran social activist Shirva Jatrabettu Tammanna Poojary was conferred with K L Sharma Seva Prashasti.
The national top farmer Award recipient Kudi Srinivas Bhat, Shirva - Ganeshotsav Committee president K Sundar Prabhu, Laxminarayan’s son Sasidar Sharma, Sasikala V Bhat were present at the dais.
Laxminarayan’s daughters Sunanda and Geeta, social activist Kollabettu Ravindra Shetty and others were also present.
Ramakrishna Sharma welcomed the gathering and delivered the preliminary address. Anant Moodittaya compered the programme. Jayaprakash Suvarna assisted in the programme. Radhakrishna Sharma proposed vote of thanks.
Shreya S Kamat and Anusha Gowda presented prayer services.
The programme concluded with fellowship meal.
