Moodbidri: Subaschandra Padival, lead artiste of Tulu B/W movie Koti - Chennaya no more

Moodbidri, 19 Oct 2016: Seventy-year-old K M Subaschandra Chowta, a resident of Kallamundkoor, progressive farmer, philanthropist, religious leader, theater artiste who had donned the role of Koti in the first ever black and white Tulu movie, Koti Chennaya passed away on Monday, October 14. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
Subaschandra had embodied the societal concern of his father Sridar Padival and strived to his mite in his lifetime. He was active in peasant’s interactive meet, religious activities and fostered youth organizations. He served as president of Kallamundkoor Agricultural Service Co-operative Society, Jain Milan – Moodbidri, Tulu Koota – Moodbidri, correspondent of Sarvodaya High School – Kallamundkoor, vice president of scouts and guides – Moodbidri, trustee of Mahaveera College.
Subaschandra was active in theater acted in over 80 plays of historical and social value and also directed.
Tulu play, Chenne Telipunaga that was staged by his theater group bagged the first prize in Karka, second prize in Innanje, Sullia and Kinnigoli. He enthralled the movie-buffs with his superb acting in Tulu movie, Koti – Chennaya produced by Prajna Films, Katpady in Udupi district.
The shopkeepers including Kallamundkoor town drew the shutters to condole the demise of Subaschandra. The funeral was held on Tuesday, October 18 at 9.00am at Bakimar paddy field that is located in front of his house.
