Mangaluru: St Aloysius College to host World Food Day Celebrations on Oct 18

Mangaluru, 17 Oct 2016: St Aloysius College (Autonomous) here will be hosting a programme organized by the department of food processing and engineering, DDU Kaushal Kendra, in association with the department of P G studies in food science and technology to celebrate World Food Day (WFDC 2016) at Fr L F Rasquinha Hall, LCRI in the college premises on Tuesday, October 18 from 9.30am to 4.00pm.
World Food Day is celebrated every year around the world to commemorate the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 1945. The programme will revolve around the theme, ‘Climate is Changing - Food and Agriculture must too.’
The inauguration will be led by Walter D’Souza of Fernandes Cashews and the chief guests of the programme will be B N Girish, vice president, Ocean Pearl Hotel and Fr Praveen Martis SJ, director of Kaushal Kendra and vice principal of LCRI. Fr Swebert D’Silva SJ, principal of St Aloysius College will be presiding the programme which will also witness participation from students of various colleges.
St Aloysius College was founded 136 years ago and imparts quality education both at UG and PG Levels. The College has been conferred with autonomous status in the year 2007. The College offers B Voc Food Processing and Engineering which was started in 2015 with the financial support of UGC. The Kaushal Kendra is a skill-based job-oriented innovative Degree programme and a UGC Approved Centre for Knowledge Acquisition and Upgradation of Skilled Human Abilities and livelihood for Food Processing. The department of food processing and engineering is affiliated to Mangalore University.
