Bantwal rural police nab group of chain-snatchers, seize jewelry, motor bikes

Bantwal, 02 Oct 2016: Bantwal rural police on Saturday, October 1 arrested a group of chain-snatchers from lonely women that they were engaged since 1 year and seized 2 bikes and jewelry worth Rs 2 lac, said DK district SP Bhushan G Borase.
Addressing the media persons at the meet held at Bantwal rural police station, here on Saturday, Borase said that the arrested has been identified as 20-year-old Numan, son of Basheer, resident of Ballurgudde, 19-year-old Shabaz, son of Abdul Karim, resident of Kannur Beedu and 23-year-old Tousif, son of Abdul Lateef, resident of Kumpanamajalu in Pudu gram panchayat.
The accused were engaged in snatching gold jewelry worn by lonely women in deserted locations across the limits of Bantwal town and rural police stations, Vittal and Punjalkatte police stations since 1 year. The accused were using the stolen Bajaj Pulsor bikes from Adyarpadav and nearby Kannur check post to commit these crimes, added SP Borase.
The sleuths of Bantwal rural police were checking the vehicles at Benjanapadav, near here when the duo Numan and Tousif arrived at the spot on their stolen motor bikes. The sleuths arrested their accomplice Shabaz upon interrogating the duos.
There are several cases registered on Numan in police stations across Dakshina Kannada district; he had also secured judicial custody in a few cases.
The police seized 2 motor bikes, one knife and 4 gold chains that was hidden at home without disposing off.
The operation was led by Bantwal circle inspector B K Manjayya, along with Bantwal rural police sub-inspector Rakshit Gowda, policemen Janardhan, Jagdish, Jayakumar, Nazir, Suresh, Prashant, Sunita and others at the instructions of Bantwal sub-division DySP Ravish C R. SP Borase announced cash award to the police team.
ASP Vedamurti, Bantwal circle inspector B K Manjayya, Bantwal rural sub-inspector Rakshit Gowda were present at the media conference.
