Mangaluru, 30 Sep 2016: Santhathi Center for Reproductive Medicine, Bendore, here inaugurated International standard laboratory and Santhathi Mobile App, first of its kind in Mangaluru, on Tuesday, September 27.
Dr Alison Murdoch, Professor of reproductive medicine, University of Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom along with other dignitaries inaugurated the new facilities by lighting the lamp at an academic session, Futuristic Fertility Advances held at Hotel Ocean Pearl, here on Tuesday morning.
Professor Murdoch, who established The Newcastle Fertility Centre, now recognized as a leading fertility centre in the UK, is one of few researchers in the world having license to carry out research into stem cells, Three parent IVF and human embryo cloning for research.
At the gathering that included doctors of Indian Medical Association and gynecologists, Professor Murdoch spoke about the novel IVF (Test Tube Baby) technology called, ‘Three Parent IVF’’ that will help prevention of genetic diseases in high risk families. Incidentally, world’s first Three parent IVF baby was born on the same day in Mexico!
Professor Pratap Kumar, noted fertility specialist from Manipal addressed the gathering about ‘Fertility Preservation Technology’ wherein, through egg, sperm and embryo freezing, patients undergoing cancer treatments can have babies, in case the treatment for cancer causes infertility.
