Udupi: Bantakal College students bring joy to Special Children of Asha Nilaya

Udupi, 28 Sep 2016: The members of the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit, Youth Red Cross (YRC) wing and Rotaract Club of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, near here jointly arranged a visit to Asha Nilaya, a residential-cum-day school for special children at Udupi, and organised a special interaction and entertainment program for the in-mates on Sunday, September 25, on the occasion of National NSS Day (September 24). Around 150 student volunteers were participated in this program, cleaned the school campus, weeded the garden and celebrated National NSS Day a memorable one.
Nagaraja Rao, NSS co-ordinator of SMVITM, Narayana Nayak, Reshma Hebbar and Sowmya Bhat, faculty co-ordinators, along with the members of the NSS, YRC and RC, handed over books, clothes, toys and the contribution collected from the staff and students of SMVITM for the development of the school building.
The NSS-YRC-RC volunteers engaged the children in various activities and games, which were enjoyed and appreciated by the children. Prizes were distributed to the participants.
Grace, assistant warden of the school expressed her deep sense of gratitude to the institution and the volunteers and also appreciated the noble gesture of organising such a memorable event for the in-mates of the school.
