Udupi: Candle Light and floral tribute paid to Uri Martyrs at Subhashnagar

Udupi, 24 Sep 2016: Different organizations of Subhashnagar and Shankerpura collectively paid candle light and floral tribute to 18 Indian soldiers who were martyred by the terrorists recently at Uri in Kashmir on Friday, 23 September 2016 at 6.30 pm in front of the huge banner having the pictures of all the 18 martyrs.
In spite of heavy rain quite a number of people had turned up to this emotional function. Commodore Jerome Castelino (VSM) was the chief guest at the tribute function. Along with other ex-servicemen, office bearers and members of different organization were present at the function.
All those who were present lighted the candles in front of the banner and prayed in silence for the souls of the martyred soldiers.
Commodore Jerome Castelino in his message said that he was shocked to hear about the martyrdom of 18 Indian soldiers by the ruthless Pakistani terrorists at Uri in Kashmir. He appreciated the various organization of Subhashnagar and Shankerpura for organizing the candle light and floral tribute function for the martyred soldiers. He made an appeal to the government of India to take appropriate and effective action against the perpetrators of this terror act so that our nation would be safe and no more soldiers would be required to sacrifice their lives due to terrorism.
Commodore Jerome Castelino along with others offered flower petals to the martyrs in front of the banner.
