Mumbai: Kannadiga Labor union leader Sharad Rao (76) passes away

Mumbai, 02 Sep 2016: Sharad Rao (76), labor union leader of Mumbai, hailing from Dakshina Kannada district, Karnataka passed away owing to brief illness here on Thursday September 1.

 

 

Sharad Rao was the union leader of BEST, Mumbai Taxi men’s and auto drivers, Hindustan Lever Limited, Trade Union Movement, Bombay Port Trust and many more large enterprises in his 5 decades of active life.

 

He was living in Bangoor Nagar, Goregaon (West) here contested Maharashtra legislative assembly elections as NCP candidate in Goregaon in 2005 and 2009.

 

 

He is survived by his wife Shanta, a native of Hiriyadka in Udupi district, son Shasank and a daughter settled in Canada.

 

The last rites will be held after his daughter arrives from Canada, family sources informed.
