Bantwal: Police force convenes peace-meeting with religious leaders ahead of festivities

Bantwal, 21 Aug 2016: Although Bantwal taluk has been identified as communally most sensitive region in the entire Dakshina Kannada district; the peace has returned in the recent past and hope to remain so with the co-operation of people of different faith, said Bantwal sub division DySP Ravish C R.
Ravish was speaking during the peace meeting with the leaders of different religious leaders and communal outfits that comes under the limits of Bantwal town and rural police stations, held at Bantwal town police station here on Saturday August 20, at the backdrop of upcoming festivals such as Krishnastami, Ganeshotsav, Eid and Monti Fest.
Bantwal circle inspector B K Manjayya appealed to get mandatory permission from local village councils for displaying banners, flexes of festivals that got to be removed once the celebrations are over. The permission from police department got to be taken for organizing the programmes and using loud speakers. As per the orders of higher officers, DJ service has been banned for victory procession.
JDS Bantwal president Haroon Rashid urged the police force to keep vigil on cattle-lifters and cow-vigilantes as Muslims will be celebrating Bakrid, 3-day sacrificing livestock ritual in coming month. There are likelihood cow-vigilantes attacking the transporters carrying bonafide livestock with permits.
BJP leader G Anant urged the police to install CCTVs in key locations across the taluk to identify the miscreants causing law and order disturbance.
Prabhakar Deivagudde urged the police to curb peddling of narcotic substance in college campuses across the taluk.
The religious leaders of different religions, local leaders of communal outfits and political parties were present on the occasion.
