Bengaluru: Investors and Startup Founders Battle it out on Cricket Pitch

• 16 teams battle in the cricket pitch for a chance to win Rs 1Lakh as Funding for their venture

• Mountaineer Neillima Pudota, who scaled Mount Everest earlier this year, inaugurates the event

Bengaluru, 06 Aug 2016: In an interesting and exciting event held in the city, The Startup Cricket League (SCL) organized a cricket tournament for members of the startup ecosystem. The tournament that was held at PlayFactory in Electronic City saw the participation of over 16 teams from across the garden city. Other exciting activities included Startup Pitching, Panel Discussions and Startup Exhibition in which well known leaders from the industry participated.

 

A few of the renowned startups like CitrusPay, BHive Workspace, Nestaway, NoBroker, Happay, Furlenco, MintM, Zipgo, Spoyl, Peersome, Azuga, Perk.com, PromptCloud, FaveoHelpdesk, KinsmanSolutions and Aavishk participated in the tournament.

Speaking on the occasion, Sai Kiran Gunda, founder of Startup Cricket League (SCL) said: ‘We are extremely happy that 2016’s SCL held at one of India’s reverberating startup hub was a huge success. This is a very powerful platform for Startups to interact with investors and also among each other and build synergies. The idea of the event is to strengthen the whole startup eco system and bring all the players together in a unique and interesting way. In the future legs of this tournament we hope to spread out to other cities and help in bringing out bigger opportunities for startups.’

 

Ravindra M K, co-founder of Bhive Co Working Spaces who was also one among the participants at the event said: ‘SCL has proved as a very good opportunity for startups like ours that have affordable and convenient offerings for our peers. We are extremely happy to be a part of this event and hope to participate in more similar upcoming events.’

 

The IPL of startups was conceptualized in 2015 and was rolled out successfully in Hyderabad city. This year it just got better and bigger, as the mega event will start off at Bangaluru (August 6) then move to New Delhi (August 20), Jaipur (September 3) and conclude in Hyderabad city (September 17). Winning teams from the four cities will then battle it out at the grand finale held in Hyderabad on the September 18 to win the title of National Champions and also a cash prize amount of Rs 1 lac as Seed Fund.

 

The launch event was organized in Hyderabad city recently with the Brand Ambassador, actor Akkhil Akkineni inaugurating SCL2016 and unveiling the dazzling trophy amongst other renowned dignitaries.
