Miscreant hacks businessman’s email; transfers more than Rs 33 lakh to his account
Udupi, 24 Jul 2016: A businessman from Karkala lost nearly Rs 34 lakh after his email was hacked by a person in Mumbai.
Dinesh Nayak, owner of Madhav Prakash Cashews, Karkala lost Rs 33,90,479 after AL Sharma hacked his email.
Nayak’s cashew unit had sent 33.55 tonnes of raw cashews to a processing unit at Goa owned by Damodar. The Karkala unit sent Rs 4 lakh as advance and Damodar had instructed Nayak to send the balance amount to his account in Goa. Accordingly, Nayak sent the money from Syndicate Bank, Karkala to Damodar’s account in Corporation Bank, Goa.
However, Sharma managed to hack into the email and divert the money to his fake account at Bank of India, Mumbai.
Dinesh Nayak has filed a complaint.
