Udupi: Ln. Elias DSouza takes charge as the President of Lions Club, Moodubelle

Udupi, 16 Jul 2016: In a grand installation ceremony that was held in the Lions Seva Bhavan, Moodubelle on Friday, 15 July 2016, Ln. Elias DSouza took charge as the new President of Lions Club, Moodubelle for the year 2016-17 from the outgoing President Ln. Dr. Eugene DSouza. The other new office bearers included Ln. Devdas Hebbar, mjf as Secretary and Ln. Henry Fernandes as Treasurer who took charge from Ln. Commodore Jerome Castelino, mjf and Ln. Elias Lobo, mjf, respectively.

 

The new office bearers of Lion Club, Moodubelle were installed by Ln. V. G. Shetty, mjf. District cabinet Coordinator. The other dignitaries on the dais included: Ln. Dr. Eugene D’Souza, the outgoing President, Ln. Commodore Jerome Castelino - Secretary, Ln. Elias Lobo - Treasurer, Zone Chairman - Ln. Uday Kumar Shetty and Extension Chairman of Lions Club, Moodubelle and Past District Governor - Ln. Prof. Wilfred R. D’Souza.

 

 

Ln. Gerald Fernandes introduced the chief guest and Istallation Officer, Ln. V. G. Shetty.

 

In his installation address, Ln. V. G. Shetty highlighted the good work that is being carried on by the Lions Club International. He said that God has given opportunity to everyone to serve his needy fellow human beings. He gave the example of Mother Theresa who used to say, “Whatever I can do you can’t do; whatever you do I can’t do, but together we can do many things.”

 

Thereafter, Ln. V.G. Shetty installed the new office bearers of Lions Club, Moodubelle including the President - Ln. Elias D’Souza, Secretary-Ln. Devdas Hebbar and Treasurer - Ln. Henry fernandes.

 

On this occasion, four  new members were inducted into the Lions Club, Moodubelle by Ln. Prof. Wilfred R. D’Souza. These four new members are: Ln. Joseph Martis, Ln. Valerian Noronha, Ln. Alex Noronha and Ln. Marian Fernandes. Ln. Ignatius Monis introduced all the four new members.

 

In his acceptance speech Ln. Elias D’Souza said that he accepted the  post as the President of Lions Club of Moodubelle for the year 2016-17 with great humility and anxiety. He expressed his gratitude to all the Lions Members for reposing their trust in him and giving him an opportunity to serve the club and the community at large. He continued by saying that the task is not going to be easy without the support of each and every member of the club and he sincerely hoped that all members would extend their cooperation in running the Lions club along with the ideals of Lionism and a spirit of service to the society.

 

Students of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions who had secured top position in PUC (Arts, Commerce, Science) and SSLC were felicitated on this occasion. Ln. Henry Fernandes read out the names of the students who scored highest marks in their respective public examinations.

 

As service project, the Lions Club, Moodubelle donated a  Water Cooler, sponsored by Ronald Sabi D’Souza, a businessman from Dubai  to St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School. Headmistress, Mrs. Leena D’Silva received the letter of donation of the Water Cooler from Ln. Elias D’Souza, the newly installed President.

 

In his felicitation address, Zone Chairman Uday Kumar Shetty appreciated the Installation speech of  Ln. V.G. Shetty and the manner in which he conducted the Installation Ceremony. He said that he was extremely happy to witness the Installation Ceremony in one of his Zone Clubs and said that he was lucky to have Ln. Elias Lobo as the Zone Secretary for the year 2016-17.

 

In his farewell address, Ln. Dr. Eugene D’Souza thanked Secretary Ln. Commodore Jerome Castelino, Treasurer, Ln. Elias Lobo, other office bearers and all the members of the Lions Club for their cooperation and support during his tenure as the President of the Lions Club of Moodubelle. He appreciated the work done by Ln. Elias Lobo as the Treasurer and congratulated him on being appointed as the Zone Secretary for the year 2016-17. 

 

 

Ln. Dr. Eugene DSouza congratulated the new President, Ln. Elias D’Souza and his team. Ln. Elias D’Souza, an Engineer by profession had served for nearly 25 years in Dubai as a consultant engineer and after returning to his native place has started his own construction company named Civitech Engineering and Project Consultation. He has been a good organizer and was instrumental in organizing Belleans in Dubai under the banner of Bellevision (UAE). He is also the chief editor of Bellevision.com, the website. Ln. Dr. Eugene D’Souza further said that under the able leadership of Ln. Elias D’Souza, the Lions Club, Moodubelle will achieve greater heights.

 

Mr. Mario Mathias, Manager of the Syndicate Bank, Manager of Canara Bank, Rtn. Raphael Aranha - President of Rotary Club, Manipura, Mr. Naveen Correa-Principal of St. Lawrence PU College, Mrs. Leena D’Silva-Headmistress of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School, office bearers and members of Lions Clubs of Shirva-Manchakal, Pernal, Belman, Mundkur-Kadandale and Subahshnagar were present for the Installation ceremony.

 

Students of St. Lawrence PU College presented the prayer song. Mrs. Lilly Sequeira compeered the programme and Ln. Devdas Hebbar proposed the vote of thanks.
