RSB Sangh Prez Upendra expresses concern over community youth disregarding farming

Udupi, 28 Jun 2016: The modern youth in undivided DK district are losing interest in farming that led to converting paddy fields into palm groves/areca plantations. It’s owing to youth of Rajapura Saraswat Brahmin (RSB) community are migrating to cities and towns in India, their elderly parents are cultivating paddy that is just sufficient for their consumption. It’s irony that RSB youth are disregarding their age-old profession of farming, said Udupi ZP former president and RSB Sangh president Upendra Nayak.
Upendra was speaking during ‘Gadent Khel – Mel 2016, rural games on silted-field that was held successively for sixth year by Rajapura Saraswat Yuva Vrunda, Bantakal, near here on Sunday June 26.
He urged the community brethrens to sustain farming along with strengthening the bond through RSB Sangh.
Ganapati Nayak Gurnebettu, managing trustee of Durgaparameshwari temple, Bantakal, near here inaugurated the rural games by pouring milk to the silted-paddy field.
TP member Geetha Wagle and veteran farmer Srinivas Wagle were present at the dais.
Yuva Vrunda president Anantaram Wagle presided the programme and welcomed the gathering. The honorary president K R Patkar in his preliminary address explained the achievement of Yuva Vrunda in the past 27 years.
Belle gram panchayat former president Sasidar Wagle, Durgaparameshwari temple governing council chairman Gampadabail Jayaram Prabhu, deputy chairman Umesh Prabhu Palame was present.
The renowned blood donor – teacher Devdas Patkar Mudarangady compered the programme. The secretary Surendra Navelkar proposed vote of thanks.
Variety rural games were held on the occasion, with the active participation of all regardless of age.
