Bantwal: Vittal police nab 6 persons accused of serial thefts; seize items worth Rs 20 lac

Bantwal, 23 Jun 2016: Vittal police in a major breakthrough arrested 6 persons accused of serial thefts in different localities of Vittal, near here. Bantwal town police were successful in nabbing a goldsmith employed in a jewelry shop at B C Road, here who decamped with jewelry, said Dakshina Kannada district SP Bhushan G Bhorase.

Addressing the media persons at Bantwal town police station, here on Wednesday June 22, SP Bhushan said the arrested has been identified as 32-year-old Barik, son of Moosa, residing at Kudtamugeru in Kolnadu village, 25-year-old Radhakatte Basheer yane Basheer, son of Ibrahim, resident at Kodangai – Radhukatte, 19-year-old Ashru yane Ashraf, son of Adam, residing at Kodangai – Kadambu quarters in Vittal Padnoor village, 19-year-old Saifuddin, son of Abbas, residing at Kodangai – Radhukatte, 26-year-old Jabir, son of Mohammed, residing at Ira – Balepuni in Balepuni village and 23-year-old Zubair K, son of H M Shafi, residing at Kudtamuger – Karai in Kolnad village – all are accused in serial thefts committed in the limits of Vittal police station. Pintu Rawat, a resident of Amarapura – Kanakul, Hoogly district of West Bengal, was accused in stealing jewelry from his shopkeeper at B C Road, here.

Vittal police arrested the accused at Chandalike, near Vittal and seized 2 cars, 1 pickup, 1 auto rickshaw, 1,500 kilograms of arecanut and also cows altogether worth Rs 20 lac.

 

Bantwal town police arrested Pintu Rawat who fled with jewelry worth 274 grams worth Rs 5 lac to his native West Bengal with the help of local police and recovered 229 grams of jewelry from him.  

 

SP Bhushan announced cash award of Rs 10,000 to the police teams led by Bantwal DySP Bhaskar Rai, circle inspector Belliyappa, Vittal sub inspector Prakash Devadiga and Bantwal town sub inspector Nanda Kumar who were involved in this operation.
