5 Young men take religious vows to become Carmelite clergies at Infant Jesus Shrine

Mangaluru, 01 Jun 2016: It was a day of great joy and jubilation for the Carmelites on Monday May 31 at 3.30pm, as they witnessed 5 young and energetic brothers pronouncing their religious vows for life at the Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte, here.
The rite of Solemn Profession was animated by Fr Prakash D’Cunha OCD, was beautifully integrated in the Eucharistic Celebration. Fr George Santhumayor the Vicar Provincial, exhorted the candidates to be ‘the beacons of Joy of the Gospel.’
The highlight of the ceremony was making the religious profession in the hands of the Vicar Provincial of the Carmelites Fr George Santhumayor OCD.
Solemn Profession is a religious ceremony in which the members pronounce 3 evangelical counsels (poverty, chastity and obedience) for life after the thorough training of almost ten years and that marks the entry into the order as a full-pledged member. With this the member shares everything in common with the other members of the Order.
The five young men who made their final profession are: Br Anthon Souz, Gundolli, Belagavi, Br Peter Pereira, Londa, Belagavi, Br Rayan Pinto, Permai, Bantwal, Br Wilson D’Costa, Londa, Belagavi and Br Nelson Cardoza, Mira Road, Mumbai.
After the Holy Mass, a short felicitation programme was held on the occasion.
