Mumbai: Model Bank opens 18th branch at suburban Vasai (West)

Mumbai, 30 May 2016: Model Co-operative Bank that was founded by enterprising Mangalorean Catholics, a century ago in metro opened its 18th branch at Cascia –J Building, New Barampur, Vasai (West) near here on Sunday May 29 morning.
Vasai diocesan vicar general Fr Nazareth Gabru blessed the new branch on the occasion.
Deutsche Bank retired director Richard Falcao inaugurated the branch by cutting the ribbon and lighting the lamp.
Model Bank chairman Albert W D’Souza presided the programme.
Albert in his presidential address said that the Bank has the objective of opening branches in the suburbs to serve wider section of customers. The financial sustenance is the strength of the Bank that could be vouched with the awards conferred by the controlling authorities. It has incorporated core banking services at par with other banks. The Bank offers higher rate of interest on deposits and advances loans at lower rate of interest, said Albert.
Fr Nazareth hoped the Bank becomes household name in metro that brings benefits to all.
Speaking on the occasion Richard Falcao said the people of coastal Karnataka are pioneers of banking in the country by beginning banks. Meanwhile, the Mangalorean Catholics who are concerned about the financial stability of the community opened the bank in metro that has completed a century. The personal service is the strength of Model Bank to strive in competitive banking sector, said Richard.
The Bank founder president – veteran of co-operative movement John D’Silva said, ‘Our Bank is not competition for you, but it has complement for all. It enjoys customers loyalty that has taken the bank to greater heights,’ said John.
The Bank deputy chairman William J Sequeria, general manager and CEO William L D’Souza, directors Marrita D’Mello and Ancy D’Souza were present at the dais.
The Bank directors Fr Oswald Gonsalves, Valerian Dias, Michael Dias, Cascia – J Building owners Stany Colaco and John Colaco, Victor D’Cunha, Satu Lopes, Prameela V Mathias, Philomena C Lobo, King Edward, Sylvester Peris, Vasai Konkani Welfare Association president Reginald Santumayor, office bearers Richard Louis D’Souza, Albert D’Costa, Abraham Clement Lobo, Thomas D Lobo, Vincent Mathias, Benedicta Rebello, Paul Nazareth, Sanjay Shinde, the Bank additional general manager Harold M Serrao, shareholders, well wishers, customers were present.
Condolences were offered for the sudden demise of the Bank assistant manager Jude Pereira during the programme.
Rose Mary read the scripture from Bible. Edward Rasquinha compered the programme. The branch manager Gouldin Fernandes proposed vote of thanks.
The programme concluded by singing National Anthem.
