Mangaluru, 27 May 2016: The district administration restored the supply of drinking water to the citizens across the city with effect from Thursday May 26. The water levels in Thumbay vented dam located at Bantwal increased to 8’11” owing to modest rains in catchment areas along Netravati River.

The drinking water supply was severely affected owing to low water level in vented dam, while in far away wards were supplied with tanker water sourced from wells. The industries drawing water from their dams were restricted with top priority in order to supply drinking water to citizens.

As the situation has improved and better monsoon are forecasted by IMD, the ban on industries – MRPL, MCF, AMR Power drawing water from their own dams was lifted.
