Udupi/M’Belle, 02 May 2016: Bishop of Udupi Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo administered the First Holy Communion to eight children and later blessed the statue of Our Lady of Lourdes at Grotto on Sunday, 01 May 2016.
Bishop Gerald Lobo along with Fr. Clement Mascarenhas and Fr. Victor Fernandes (OFM Cap) offered the solemn First Holy Communion Mass at 7.30 am. Eight children along with their parents were administered First Holy Communion.
Soon after the Mass, people proceeded to the Grotto in procession where the Bishop conducted the brief liturgy of blessing and dedicating the statue of Our Lady of Lourdes. Both the statues of Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Bernadette Subiro were sponsored by Lawrence and Theresa D’Almeida of St. Peter II Ward.
Being the first day of the month of May, dedicated to Mother Mary, the Bishop made an appeal to the parishioners to participate in large numbers in reciting the Rosary in front of the Grotto on every evening throughout the month of May.
