Bantwal: Woman lecturer commits suicide nearby hillock at Karinjeshwar temple

Bantwal, 27 April 2016: A woman’s body was found hanging to a tree in a hillock, near Karinjeshwar temple, near here on Monday April 26 morning.
The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Chaitra, daughter of Girish Rai, a native of Punachapady, at the limits of Savanoor, Puttur. Chaitra was married to Chetan, a native of Mulky in Mangaluru taluk 8 months ago.
She was the lecturer and was residing with her father-in-law’s house at Jalligudde, Mangaluru city. She had arrived at Karinjeshwar temple on Sunday April 25. Her handbag was found by a devotee near the temple backyard garden on Monday April 26 afternoon and was handed over to temple office.
Meanwhile, Mangaluru rural police registered a missing case on Sunday and were on their lookout. When the locals and the family members of Chaitra were searching in the vast forest nearby the temple, they found Chaitra’s body hanging from a tree that was located precariously on a boulder. She had used her shawl to commit the suicide.
