Two youth hailing from Delhi, working in local furniture shop drowned in Netravati River

Bantwal, 25 April 2016: Two youngsters hailing from New Delhi, working in a local furniture shop were drowned in Netravati River at Bastipadpu, here on Sunday April 24 evening.
The deceased has been identified as eighteen-year-old Anas and twenty-year-old Asmani.
Both Anas and Asmani were among 7 youth who have gone for a swimming spree in Netravati River on Sunday evening as the temperature soared. Their swimming spree has taken them to deep waters that they did not realize and were drowned. Other youth raised an alarm but rescue efforts were made difficult as there were no expert swimmers around at that time, said eyewitnesses.
Although a local person rushed to nearby fire brigade office and informed them, the fire fighters were unavailable as they had gone on service call elsewhere.
Meanwhile, the locals retrieved the dead bodies of Anas and Asmani. The town police transported the bodies to government hospital for autopsy.
The process of sending the bodies to their families in New Delhi has already begun. Bantwal town police registered a case in this regard.
