Udupi: Youth ought to respond swiftly in saving accident victims - Francis D’Sa

Udupi, 03 April 2016: Despite the technological and scientific advances in the modern era, the social concern and service orientation among the youth is declining. The road accidents are common, while the youth are more concerned of taking the video of accidents than taking the victim to the nearest hospital for first aid. The need of the hour is to save the lives of accident victims, said Rotary Club – Shankerpura former president Francis D’Sa.

 

Francis was speaking during the decennial celebration of Rotary Club – Subash Nagar that was promoted by Rotary Club – Shankerprua, held at Alva open ground, Subash Nagar, near here on Saturday April 2.

 

 

He also lauded the social service activities of Rotaract Club – Subash Nagar for earning the love and trust of locals.

 

Rotaract district representative Mahadevaswamy Mysore was the chief guest said that Rotaract Club – Subash Nagar is more active in social service in the rural area under Rotaract district. 

 

Rotaract coastal representative Manjappa D Goni, the district former representative Sumit Kumar Kinnigoli, Rotary Club – Shankerpura president Clifford D’Mello, speaker Daniel Ammanna were present at the dais.

 

Rotary Club – Subash Nagar adopted 10 poor students among the schools in the locality to bear their education expenses, distributed toiletries to Acchada School, utensils to Parpel old age home, Karkala, distributed rations to poor families and handed financial assistance to poor patients.

 

Mohandas R Shetty, headmaster of St John’s Kannada Medium High School, Shankerpura, St John’s Academy retired head teacher Ida Cornelio, Mr Karnataka award recipient Prasad Aharya, Karnataka state Cricket Association umpire and junior-most national youth cricket coach Ren Traver Subash Nagar, land donor Cecilia teacher were felicitated on the same occasion.  

 

The donors Manjula Nagaraj Abu Dhabi, Bijapur entrepreneur B M Saheb were also felicitated.

 

Rotaract president Praveen Shetty welcomed the gathering and presided the programme.

 

The secretary Gladson Kunder read the report. Mohandas R Shetty delivered the introductory address. Anita rendered the prayers. Vishwakumar and Mohammed Hanif compered the programme.

 

Lekka…Tatti…Bokka…! Tulu comedy play was staged by the artistes of Vijaya Kalavider led by journalist Sharat Shetty Kinnigoli.
