Udupi/S.Pura, 31 March 2016: “Easter Day Celebration” along with family get-together was organized by Rotary Shankerpura on on 28th March 2016 at the Rotary Bhavan.
The Chief Guest of the event was Mr. Suchit Kotian, a well known Journalist and a lecturer at M.G.M College Udupi and Guest of Honour was Rtn: Satyendra Pai, Asst. Gov. of Zone 3, R.I. Dist 3180. The function was presided by Rotary President Rtn. Clifford D’Mello. Zonal Lieutenant Francis D’Sa was present on the Dais.
In his Presidential address the Chief Guest Mr. Suchit Kotian said that Easter or Ressuruction of Jesus has a great significance among the Christians across the world. Two thousand years ago the people of Israel were waiting for a very powerful king to rule to come to earth and govern them. But unlike their expectations Jesus came down as a very simple person from the very poor family and born in Manger and not in a Royal palace as expected by them. He had only one goal and His mission was to bring people closer to God Almighty by his simple teachings such as Love One Another as you love your neighbor, peace, harmony and tranquility were his goal to achieve. He came to this world not to be served but to serve. Jesus preached his people to shun from Violence and walk in the path of non-violence. The father of our great nation Mahatma Gandhi was very much impressed by Jesus teachings and followed the same path of non-voilence and got us Independent. He expressed remorse towards the younger generation of today who are misguided and resort to non-violence at times to achieve their goals and thereby creating communal disharmony. He requested to put a full stop this attitude and walk towards methods of peace and non-violence.
A brief stage function was to felicitate a few prominent personalities on the occasion. Past President and Senior Rotarian John Lobo felicitated Anil D’Sa (Secretary, Rotary Shankerpura) for organizing his first musical concert titled: Anil’s Nite and releasing his maiden Konkani Love songs “Havn Tuzoch Mora Pasun” during the function. He also felicitated Rtn: Mark Vaz on the occasion as he is traveling to Mumbai for a short tour and spend time with his Children in Dubai, U.A.E.
Rotary Asst. Governor Rtn. Satyandra Pai expressed his happiness for arranging such a great event. A cheque of Rs. 25,000 was presented to Asst. Governor for the Rotary Foundation.
