Mangaluru: Ramakrishna Mission carries out 38th & 39th Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan

Mangaluru, 08 Feb 2016: Ramakrishna Mission here carried out a special Cleaniness Drive in Central Market area here on Saturday February 6.
The drive was flagged off by Swami Dharmavratananda of Ramakrishna mutt, here.
Deepa Pai, managing director of Hangyo Ice creams Ltd, Government First Grade College – Car Street principal Professor Rajashekhar Hebbar and Professor Mahesh K B were also present.
The drive was carried out on Saturday for 3 hours from 3.00pm to 6.00pm. Volunteers not only cleaned the Central Market area with brooms but also heaps of dirt and stinking garbage that had filled in the nooks and corners of the market were thoroughly cleaned. They also distributed the awareness handbills to all the shops and customers in the market. About 60 students from Government First Grade College, Car Street actively participated in the drive.
38th Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan was carried out by Ramakrishna Mission in Karangalpady Jail Road area on Sunday February 7 from 7.30am to 10.30am.
The mayor Jacinta Vijay Alfred and Lily Pinto flagged off the drive in the presence of Swami Jitakamananda.
M R Vasudev, Dr Shikaripura Krishnamurthy and others were present.
The mayor Jacintar cleaned the premises of DIET, here with broom. Volunteers were divided into three groups and each one cleaned the Jail Road, C G Kamath Road and Lions Park under the guidance of Dr Satish Rao, Ramkumar Bekal and Satish Bhat. The branches of trees that were chopped by the civic body along the roads were cleared off the street using earthmovers thus helping the pedestrians. Worn out direction boards were repainted and awareness handbills were distributed among different households.
39th Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan was carried out by Ramakrishna Mission in Chilimbi area here.
MLC Captain Ganesh Karnik briefed the volunteers about the details Swacchata Abhiyan. Industrialist C A Ameen and Ganesh Bangera of Kalki Manava Seva Samiti flagged off the 39th Abhiyan. Volunteers cleaned the different areas in and around Chilmbi for almost 3 hours later.
Volunteers also distributed handbills on Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan to generate awareness among the locals in the area.
The members of Balakara Sharada Mahotsava Seva Samiti, students of Srinivas Engineering College, members of Kalki Manava Seva Samiti, Professor Mahesh K B, volunteers from Nivedita Balaga, students of Government First Grade College - Car Street, Vittaldas Prabhu, Professor Sheshappa Amin, K V Satyanarayana, Sujith Pratap, M R Vasudev, Dilraj Alva and several other eminent persons were present. About 350 volunteers participated in the Abhiyans.
