Udupi: ICYM Pangla unit celebrates fun filled Annual Day

Pangala/S.Pura, 08 Feb 2016: A most active ICYM unit of the Udupi Diocese Pangala ICYM members celebrated their Patron Saint Gonsalo Gracia day on Saturday the 6th February 2016 at Community Hall of St. John Evangelist Church Pangla.

 

The grand annual day celebration began at 7.00pm with Oliver D’Sa (Vice President) inviting all the guests to the dais escorted by ICYM President Franklin Martis, and Gen. Secretary Rhea D’Souza. The guests on the dais presented were Rev. Fr. Lesly D’Souza (Parish Priest and ICYM spiritual director), the Chief Guest of the day Mr. Alphonse Mendonsa (Supatha Coordinator, Udupi Diocese), Bro Joshwy (Deacon), Mr. Mark Vas (VP Parish Council), Ms. Simy D’Souza (Gen. Secretary), Ms. Clara Mendonsa (Convenor, ICYM), Sr. Lilly Pereira, Superior DSH) and Sr. Winnie (HM followed by a brief prayer by members invoking God’s blessings.

 

 

The President Franklin accorded a hearty welcome to all the guests and thanked each and everyone for their overwhelming support throughout the year for supporting him and accomplish all the activities and programs organized during his tenure. He thanked especially the committee members and first year batch members who were ever ready to come to help whenever he invited them. Thanked Fr. Leslie for his continues support and guidance every time.

 

Rhea D’Souza Gen. Secretary read out the annual report highlighting the various achievements and social and cultural activities organized by ICYM and accomplished them successfully for the benefit of members as well as parishioners.

 

The certificates of appreciation were distributed to the committee members and a few other members who were instrumental in organizing events successfully.

 

The Chief Guest of the day Alphonse Mendonsa spoke on the occasion and narrated how the CYM (formerly known as) was formed during the time of Late Rev. Fr. Victor Saldhana and what all the difficulties were taken to get the CYM running and active from its inception in 1974. He also announced that during his tenure as President the girls were inducted into CYM with the guidance of Late Rev. Fr. Gabriel D’Souza. He gave a brief message to the youth towards their responsibility to the society and their own development.

 

Fr. Leslie D’Souza in his address appreciated the hard work and efforts put up by Franklin and his dynamic team to accomplish every programs meeting the demands well in time. He appreciated them listening to him and following his guidance. He reiterated Alphonse’s thought on responsibility and dream big and be successful. Finally he requested them to get in more members who are not yet joined and requested them to take it as a Challenge.

 

A memento was presented to Alphonse Mendonsa on behalf of ICYM Pangla.

 

 

Rhea proposed the vote of thanks and on conclusion of stage program a variety and fun filled games were organized by Franklin and Oliver which were enjoyed by all especially the treasure hunt was a reall challenge and most enjoyable too.

 

Sr. Lilly Pereira presented prizes to the winners of each game and group games.

 

Bro Joshwin invoked God’s blessing prior to the sumptuous dinner arranged by ICYM for all.

 

The memorable ICYM Annual Day was ended with a dance enthralling the audience.
