Beltangady: SDM College journalism dept launches Community Radio 90.4

Beltangady, 18 Jan 2016: The community Radio 90.4 of journalism department of SDM College was launched at Ujire, here on Saturday January 16.
Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Veerendra Heggade and Hemavati couple inaugurated community Radio 90.4.
Speaking on the occasion, Heggade said, ‘We are in IT era. Even the illiterates, rural people get both national and overseas news through the media. The heads of family would listen to radio news whilst sipping coffee in the past, while the children and women would listen to movie songs and cooking,’ said Heggade.
He further said, ‘One should have the determination to contribute something worthwhile to the society, like a seed that grows from sapling to become a fruit-yielding huge tree. Radio 90.4 should offer info on different courses of SDM College, tourism, religious, literary and poetry, etc. It should become a platform to broadcast our culture because everyone has different talent,’ said Heggade.
SDM Education Society secretary Dr B Yashovarma said that Radio 90.4 was launched with the earnest interest of journalism students and head of the department. One can listen to radio whilst engaged in work. He also urged the students to make optimum use of this facility.
SDM College principal Dr K S Mohan Narayan, Sonia Yashovarma, lecturers and students were present on the occasion.
The head of department of journalism Bhaskar Hegde delivered the introductory address. III B A student Prashant Didupe proposed vote of thanks.
