Seminar for Altar Servers along with parents held in M’belle

Udupi. 29 Nov 2015: A seminar of the Altar Servers of St. Lawrence Church Moodubelle along with their parents was held in the Parish Hall on Sunday, 29 November 2015 at 11 am. Rev. Fr. Clifford Fernandes, Professor in St. Joseph’s Seminary, Jeppu Mangalore was the resource person.

 

Following the singing of hymn in honour of St. John Berchmans, the Patron Saint of the Altar Servers, the seminar was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas, Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Clifford Fernandes, the Resource Person, Rev . Fr. Victor Fernandes (OFM Cap), Assistant Parish Priest and Spiritual Director of the Altar Servers, Sr. Venisha, Superior of Loreto Convent, Mrs. Latha D’Mello and Mrs. Shanti Alva, Animators of Altar Servers and Jenson and Royston, President and Secretary of the Altar Servers who were on the dais.

 

In his brief message, Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas pointed out the importance of the seminar arranged by Rev. Fr. Victor Fernandes for the Altar Servers along with their parents.

 

 

Rev. Fr. Clifford Fernandes, in his key note address for both Altar Servers and their parents spoke about the importance of Altar Servers and how they should groom and behave. He said that both Altar Servers and their parents should pay attention to the personal appearance of the Altar servers individually. They should have a pleasant countenance and dress in a decent manner. They should pay attention to their physical fitness. Altar Servers should be role models in the family, church, school and society. Speaking further, Fr. Clifford Fernandes said that the Altar Servers should develop the good values of being truthful, respectful to the elders, take responsibility, have compassion and adopt generosity and be prayerful.

 

The chief aim of the seminar was to sow the seeds of priestly vocation among the Altar Servers.

 

Joyson welcomed the gathering, Royston proposed the vote of thanks and Rev. Fr. Victor Fernandes compeered the programme.
